Easter – 2 Days: Etching All Levels
Beginners will learn the core etching processes of hard ground and aquatint, through demonstrations and hands-on practice. Experienced students are also welcome on the course either for a refresher or to pursue their own projects with 1:1 tutor support.
What The Course is About:
This is a practical, workshop-based course for beginners, those wanting to refresh their skills and also for experienced students. As a beginner you will be taught core etching processes, hard ground and aquatint, through demonstrations, and hands-on practice preparing and printing your own etchings. As a more experienced printmaker you will be able to pursue your own projects with 1:1 guidance and support, to enable you to develop your ideas and stretch your skills.
Materials Required:
If you have a drawing or image you’d like to refer to, or work from during the course, please bring it along. Please bring a selection of pencils and a sketchbook or notebook. You will need some basic paintbrushes which can be purchased from the School Shop. Basic etching tools are available to borrow, or you can bring your own tools if you have them. Etching can be messy so it’s a good idea to bring an apron.
Previous Experience:
All Levels. This course is suitable for complete beginners, those wanting to refresh their skills and experienced etchers.
End of course:
As a beginner you will be given a grounding in core etching processes and will practise using them to create your own prints. As a more experienced printmaker you will be able to refresh your skills, discuss your projects and ideas on a 1:1 basis with the tutor and progress your projects with tutor support.
