My education began in my home town Sheffield in 1980 followed by three years at Lanchester art School at Coventry University before completing MA in Painting at Manchester University.
I have been painting for nearly forty years and consider myself to be a New Wave Surrealist, as I enjoy creating images that express ideas about contemporary psychological realities.
I began teaching at Putney School of Art in 1991. I teach several different classes including portraits, oil painting and watercolour drawing and painting for all levels.
My aim as a tutor is to use both my experience as a painter and a teacher, to help all develop an individual approach to drawing and painting, to express ideas and improve their technique. Each course covers a range of styles and approaches to drawing and painting, drawing on both contemporary art and art of the past.
