February Half Term – Introduction to Drawing & Colour 3D Campus

On this two-day ‘taster’ course you will be introduced to some of the basic skills of observational drawing and colour.

What The Course is About:

On this two-day ‘taster’ course you will be introduced to some of the basic skills of observational drawing and colour. On day one, we’ll focus on drawing skills including line, space, proportion and tone. On day two, we’ll focus on colour starting with colour theory/mixing using acrylic paints and creating a painting later in the day. There’ll be demos and plenty of one-to-one attention and examples of artists work to inspire you.

Materials Required:

Day 1: A couple of sketching pencils such as 2B and 6B, eraser, sharpener and some loose sheets of A3 cartridge paper. Day 2: 2B pencil, a few sheets of A4 rough paper, A3 cartridge paper, medium brush and cheap plastic palette knife or glue spatula, paint palette, acrylic paints: White, black, Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Yellow Medium Hue, Ultramarine, Cerulean Blue, Cadmium Red & Process or permanent Magenta. Please only buy these colours not a set. Available from the school shop.

Previous Experience:

Suitable for complete beginners who have never drawn or students who have not drawn for a while or need to gain confidence.

End of course:

You will learn some of the basic principles of observational drawing and be shown how to interpret visual information. You’ll have gained confidence in your drawing ability and had fun!
