Experimental Printmaking
An opportunity to explore varied printmaking techniques, each with different and exciting possibilities for mark making that you can add to your creative toolkit. This course will introduce and encourage experimentation with a range of techniques including monoprint, drypoint, collagraph and more. Suitable for those new to printmaking, or those wanting a refresher.
What The Course is About:
The course will introduce techniques including drypoint, monoprint, collagraph and more, used on their own and combined to build up layered images. You will learn through demonstrations followed by hands-on practice, preparing and making your own prints. Tuition will include group sessions and one to one support. You will be encouraged to experiment and explore in a relaxed workshop environment, with the opportunity to apply techniques to individual projects.
Materials Required:
If you have an image, drawing, or sketchbook you’d like to refer to, or work from, please bring it along. You will need a selection of pencils and some basic paintbrushes, which you can bring along or purchase from the school shop, along with paper and other materials. Printing can be messy so it’s a good idea to bring an apron, and rubber gloves are available from the School Shop.
Previous Experience:
Suitable for complete beginners or those wanting to refresh their skills.
End of course:
You will produce prints using a range of printmaking techniques, single and multiple colours, and printing with and without a printing press. You will learn how to combine different methods to achieve desired results. There will be tutor input and support to discuss the use of different techniques in your work.
