Short Drawing Courses

You will be able to explore the creative possibilities of drawing, gain confidence and broaden your expectations and understanding of the subject. Each highly focused course will cover slightly different aspects of drawing. For example the function of line, tone, texture, mark making and composition, through carefully structured approaches. On occasion we may spend time drawing in galleries or museums. The courses are suitable for both experienced students and those just beginning their drawing journeys.

What The Course is About:

You will be able to explore the creative possibilities of drawing, gain confidence and broaden your expectations and understanding of the subject. Each terms course will have a different focus and cover different aspects of drawing. For example the function of line, tone, texture, mark making and composition and the use of particular media ie pastels, ink etc,

On occasion we may spend time drawing in galleries or museums (see info for Autumn term). The courses are suitable for both experienced students and those just beginning their drawing journeys.

What The Course is About:

Autumn term: Drawing in the V& A Museum.

Using different parts of the V&A ‘s rich and vast collections to explore and draw Objects in situ. Focusing on observational skills and approaches & techniques relevant to the subject matter. The first session will be at PSAD.

Spring term: The theatre of Light & Dark

Working mainly from studio set ups we will explore the drama of tonal drawing examining the use of different media and techniques.

Summer Term: Landscapes inside & outside

we will use a variety of approaches to drawing landscapes. Ranging from close observation to mixed media process based approaches. As the title suggests some of the work will be in the studio but weather permitting we will have some field trips and work directly in the landscape. We will also look at the work of other artists both historical and contemporary.

Materials Required:

Any material you have, bring to the first session. There is an art shop if needed.

Previous Experience:

The courses are suitable for both experienced students and those just beginning their drawing journeys.
