Feb Half Term – Painterly Screenprinting

Suitable for those who already have experience of screenprinting but want to bring a painterly depth to their screenprints using blends and handmade stencils created with TruGrain.

What The Course is About:

This is a practical workshop-based course where different techniques will be demonstrated, and you will have a chance to put them into practice. The course will include painterly approaches to layering up colour blends and handmade marks. You will learn how to use TruGrain (a textured acetate) and Tusche (light sensitive liquid) to create and print your own marks. You may want to bring your sketch book, a drawing or painting that you have made for inspiration for your mark making.

Materials Required:

What to bring to the first session: The cost of workshop-based materials such as inks, newsprint, chemicals and equipment maintenance are included in the fees. Your main additional expense will be papers and tapes and it is common for students to build their own set of basic art equipment (such as brushes, pencils and knives), although these are available in the workshop. You may want to bring your sketch book, a drawing or painting that you have made for inspiration for your mark making.

Previous Experience:

This course is suitable for those with basic experience of screenprinting, as well as more experienced students who want to either refresh or develop their skills.

End of course:

On this course you will learn: How to layer up marks and colour blends to bring depth to your screenprints.
