Introduction to Drawing & Colour 3D Campus

This course is ideal for complete beginners who have never drawn or painted before, or for those with some experience, who’d like to brush up their skills and gain confidence in their drawing and colour work.

What The Course is About:

You will be taught the basic skills of drawing including line, space, tone, composition and how to assess proportion and perspective with plenty of demos and handouts. You’ll be introduced to a variety of materials including pencil, charcoal and ink and later in the term colour is introduced. For each new project, you’ll have demos, handouts or see examples of artist’s work to inspire you. The course is designed to be taken a term at a time, or complete all 3 terms to gain confidence and a good understanding of drawing and using colour. Each term the balance of colour to drawing varies and with different media such as pencils, collage and paint.

Student feedback for Intro to Drawing & Colour

"Many thanks for the kick start to my art, which is just what I needed after a gap of 40 odd years. Sophie’s enthusiasm for art is infectious and I am now "seeing" more like an artist. I would say that Intro to Drawing & Colour has something for everyone whether they are a true beginner like me or just a bit rusty."

Alison Williamson

"Having never had any formal art lessons (apart from secondary school, 50+ years ago) I eventually signed up to Intro to Drawing & Colour in September. It was the best thing I could’ve done. Sophie, the tutor strikes the right balance of positive feedback with constructive suggestions of further improvement/areas to work on. She is never negative. I found the course motivating and enjoy seeing other students' efforts and struggles. As I work on my art pieces I almost find it therapeutic in a mindfulness kind of way – meditative."

Annette Derry

"In this course (Intro to Drawing & Colour) I set out to learn the basics for drawing and colour. The course followed an introduction path which allowed you to use the various skills progressively. With Sophie’s clear and attentive teaching I was made aware of the importance of good observation. I found the course to be very helpful and enjoyable."
