May Half Term – Drawing & Pastels
A one-day workshop exploring chalk pastels. This course is ideal for beginners as well as those who have some experience of using chalk pastels and would like to improve their skills with drawing and colour.
What The Course is About:
On this one-day course, you will be taught ways in which to manipulate chalk pastels, while working from subjects such as still life and landscape, utilizing different drawing applications such as blending, hatching, smudging, and overlaying, guided by the tutor and some reference to artists work.
Materials Required:
What to bring to the first session: Box of Chalk pastels 12-20 colours. If you have more that’s fine. The college sells sheets of A2 pastel paper, otherwise you could buy an A3 pastel pad with a range of toned/coloured paper. Fixative or hairspray, bulldog clips
Previous Experience:
Suitable for complete beginners who have never drawn or students who have not drawn for a while or need to gain confidence.
End of course:
The course will include the opportunity to experiment with different ways of applying the medium as well as papers and surfaces. There will be the opportunity to experiment as well as produce more developed pieces of work and a choice of subjects which will include still life, transcription, portraiture, landscape as well as exploring a more abstract method.
