NEW Pottery for Young People 13-17 years 3D Campus
This course is aimed at young people interested in clay and pottery. Suitable for 13-17 years.
What The Course is About:
The course is an enjoyable and creative pottery course for young people. You will have the opportunity to learn and enjoy the magic of throwing on the wheel and handbuilding techniques, with professional instruction on how to make a range of pottery shapes.
Beginners to pottery will be shown throwing & handbuilding techniques. Experienced students will be able to work on your own initiated projects with the support from a very experienced tutor.
3D Campus: Bentley House, 4a Disraeli Road, SW15 2DS (Directly opposite Putney Library). N.B Classes in 3D Studio 1 and 3D Sculpture Studio are not yet accessible for wheelchair users (Staircase leading to first floor). Please speak to the Admin Team who will advise an alternative course at Oxford Road (lift) or ground floor 3D Campus.
Materials Required:
For the first lesson please bring a notebook / sketchbook and something to write with; a digital camera or camera phone is useful to record of your work. You will also need a suitable waterproof apron if you have one.
Basic hand tools can be bought from the school shop but there are also some communal tools available to start with.
Materials such as clay, slips and glazes are provided, and a charge is made based on the weight of your work prior to firing.
Previous Experience:
Suitable for all levels, including complete beginners.
End of course:
The courses will cover all the basic construction techniques: Pinching, coiling, slab building, and working from moulds; and there will be a basic introduction to throwing on the wheel.
