Oct Half Term – 2 Days: Etching All Level

All Levels. This course is suitable for complete beginners, those wanting to refresh their skills and experienced etchers.

What The Course is About:

This is a practical, workshop-based course for beginners, those wanting to refresh their skills and also for experienced students. As a beginner you will be taught core etching processes, hard ground and aquatint, through demonstrations, and hands-on practice preparing and printing your own etchings. As a more experienced printmaker you will be able to pursue your own projects with 1:1 guidance and support, to enable you to develop your ideas and stretch your skills.

Materials Required:

What to bring to the first session: If you have a drawing or image you’d like to refer to, or work from during the course, please bring it along. Please bring a selection of pencils 2H, HB, 2B, 6B and a sketchbook or notebook. You will need some basic paintbrushes which can be purchased from the School Shop. Basic etching tools are available to borrow, or you can bring your own tools if you have them. Etching can be messy so it’s a good idea to bring an apron, and rubber gloves are available from the School Shop.
