Oct Half Term – 2 Days Introduction to Pottery: Throwing 3D Campus

This course is aimed at anyone interested in clay and pottery.

What The Course is About:

Learn and enjoy the art of throwing with professional instruction on how to make a range of pottery shapes on a wheel. This course is aimed at anyone interested in clay and pottery and the perfect course for complete beginners who wants to see what it's all about or for those aiming to improve your basic throwing skills to the next level.

Materials Required:

Please bring a notebook / sketchbook and something to write with; a digital camera or camera phone is useful to record of your work. Basic hand tools can be bought from the school shop but there are also some communal tools available to start with. Materials such as clay, slips and glazes are provided and a charge is made based on the weight of your work prior to firing. You will also need a suitable waterproof apron.

Previous Experience:

Suitable for complete beginners or a refresher for students with some experience.

End of course:

The courses will cover all the basic techniques and you will be given a good grounding in clay preparation, the working properties of clay, different clay bodies, and learn to use a pottery wheel.
