The course will cover aspects of perspective and analysing and simplifying complex structures into underlying shapes and patterns. Weather permitting, we will go outside, sketching buildings and taking photos to use as reference material back in the studio. We will explore different creative ways of responding to the built environment and experimenting with a variety of materials and techniques. We will look at a range of artists including: jJohn Piper, Edward Hopper, Thomas Jones, Antoni Gaudi, Anselm Kieffer and Vincent van Gogh.
