Summer School – 3 Days: Art and Design for Young People 13-17 years

An enjoyable and challenging course designed to build on existing skills to create a varied body of work useful for GCSE and A level course work or for a dynamic foundation portfolio.

What The Course is About:

An enjoyable and challenging 3 day course designed to build on existing skills to create a varied body of work useful for GCSE and A level course work or for a dynamic foundation portfolio. The course aims to explore drawing and mixed media practice in depth; employing line, tone and gestural drawing approaches with further mark - making techniques including working with colour, inks and paint/pastels, direct observational studies and mono-printing.

Materials Required:

What to bring to the first session: Materials needed for Monday and Tuesday printing with Sophie. Separate materials will be needed for the rest of the week but paper and further items can be purchased from the school shop. Wear old clothes/bring an apron/disposable gloves if desired – inks will stain. Sketchbook Selection of sketching pencils, old biro, black marker pen Glue stick/scissors Masking tape Selection of OLD materials suitable for creating textures with monoprint such as: Old comb, old fork, toy car with wheels, old decorating brushes of different widths, bubble wrap etc.
