Summer School – Introduction to Illustration 3D Campus

On this one-day course we will cover aspects of illustration and aims to enable students to respond to a brief.

What The Course is About:

On this one-day course you’ll be shown the tools used when creating a picture book. We’ll start with looking at some examples of picture books and how illustrators create characters, with plenty of examples to inspire you. Through some fun creative exercises, you’ll develop a character and start to think of the world of your character.

Materials Required:

What to bring to the session: Drawing pencil, eraser, sharpener and an A4 or A3 sketchbook or loose sheets of cartridge paper, scissors and glue stick, plus some colour materials of your choice – pencils, felt-tips or any water-based paint such as watercolour, gouache or acrylic.

Previous Experience:

Beginners

End of course:

You’ll have gained an understanding of the importance of character in a picture book, created a character and started to build a world around it.
