Summer School – Portrait Photography for Young People

This course is a fun and informative introduction to the fundamental elements of portrait photography with an emphasis on the importance of light and how to control it. You will learn how to shoot portraits on location with natural light and in the studio with artificial lighting.

What The Course is About:

This course is a fun and informative introduction to the fundamental elements of portrait photography with an emphasis on the importance of light and how to control it. You will learn how to shoot portraits on location with natural light and in the studio with artificial lighting. The basics of taking digital pictures will be explored with demonstrations by the tutor along with some class based practical tasks to practice using a digital camera. We will look at genre of Portrait Photography and students will photograph each other in the street using natural light and studio flash. You will learn the real differences between candid and formal portrait photography and how it has evolved and diversified over time.

Materials Required:

You‘ll need to have a digital camera, which could be a DSLR, bridge or mirror less camera. The quality of camera isn’t important.

All Levels

End of course:

By the end of the course you will have gained some of the necessary skills to create interesting creative portraits and learn how to fully operate your digital camera and use the manual setting to get the correct exposure.
