After leaving school Druid trained at the London College of Furniture gaining a certificate in Furniture Design and Production, together with a range of advanced City & Guilds and institute of wood science qualifications.
Initially employed within the furniture industry as a production director. A wish to develop his craft skills led to him seeking employment within a local company of architectural woodcarvers. Working alongside skilled crafts people he was introduced to wood carving as well as developing his cabinet making skills, which later led to a period working within furniture restoration. Druid continues to maintain and develop his own skills, undertaking commissions and recently undertaking courses in green woodworking and chair making.
Druid started teaching his craft in the late 1970s and has taught both day and evening classes in a wide variety of settings.
A qualified and registered mental health Occupational Therapist of 27 years, Druid has an understanding of the importance of Art, Craft and continued learning in maintaining well-being and good mental health. This is reflected in his approach to both his craft and teaching.
